Elevated Ejection Fraction

A hyperdynamic cardiac state with an abnormally high proportion of end-diastolic left ventricular volume ejected during systole (normal range: ~50-70%).

Causes

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Dehydration

  • Increased sympathetic stimulation (stress, catecholamine excess)

  • Blood loss

  • High-output states

    • Sepsis

    • Anemia

    • AV-fistula

    • Pregnancy (physiological increase)
