The neurovascular process in which erectile tissue of the penis becomes engorged with blood, producing rigidity and elongation sufficient for penetration, mediated by parasympathetic vasodilation and restriction of venous outflow.

  • Normal testosterone fluctuations

  • Medications: Vasodilator drugs
