Ears that are larger than the normal statistical average relative to the head and body.

  • Adult female vertical ear length: 58–62 mm

  • Adult male vertical ear length: 62–66 mm

  • Macrotia: >70 mm

Causes

  • Genetics: Familial tendency

  • Cartilage growth with aging

  • Syndromes: Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome
