Phthisis bulbi

An end-stage, non-functional, shrunken ocular condition characterized by severe structural atrophy and scarring, typically associated with profound, irreversible vision loss and ocular hypotony. Possible causes are chronic inflammation (uveitis, endophthalmitis), trauma, glaucoma, retinal detachment, surgical complications, retinoblastoma, radiation exposure, congenital anomalies, ischemia or Coats' disease.
