Subungal hyperkeratosis

The excessive buildup of keratin (thickening of the stratum corneum) beneath the nail plate, causing the nail to thicken, discolor, lift and detach (onycholysis). Associated with disorders such as psoriasis, onychomycosis, trauma, contact dermatitis, and viral infections (HPV).
