Subungual hematoma

A collection of blood between the nail bed and nail plate, presenting with painful nail discoloration due to increased subungual pressure. Usually following blunt or crush trauma to the distal phalanx, tight footwear, blood clotting disorders, anticoagulation, or subungual melanoma.
