Anhidrosis

An abnormal deficiency or complete absence of eccrine sweat production, generalized or localized, leading to impaired thermoregulatory sweating and increased risk of heat intolerance and hyperthermia.

Causes

  • Neurologic: Neuropathy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Ross syndrome, Horner syndrome, Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, brain tumors, stroke

  • Skin damage: Burn, radiation therapy, surgical scars, psoriasis, eczema, scleroderma, infections

  • Medications: Anticholinergics, psychotropics, Botox, morphine
