Cafe au lait spot

A well-circumscribed, flat, hyperpigmented macule or patch, light to dark brown, usually congenital or appearing in early childhood, representing an epidermal melanocytic hypermelanosis.

Multiple lesions may be a cutaneous marker of:

  • Neurofibromatosis type 1

  • McCune-Albright syndrome

  • Legius syndrome

  • Noonan syndrome
