Decreased PaCO2

Abnormally low arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO₂) below the normal reference range (4.7–6.0 kPa), indicating alveolar hyperventilation and predisposing to respiratory alkalosis.

• Congestive heart failure

• Metabolic acidosis

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis

  • Kidney disease

• High altitude exposure
