Causes

  • Medications: Chemotherapy

  • Infections: Common cold, influenza, sinusitis

  • Nutritional deficiencies: Zinc, vitamin B12

  • Xerostomia

  • Nerve damage: Surgery, trauma

  • Acid reflux: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
