Diagnostic finding

Elevated VIP

Abnormally increased plasma concentrations of vasoactive intestinal peptide above the upper reference limit (normal range: 0-75 pg/ml or 0-22,2 pmol/l), and may correlate with secretory diarrhea and electrolyte disturbances. It suggests pathological VIP hypersecretion from a neuroendocrine tumor (VIPoma, ganglioneuroma or neuroblastoma).

Also known as: Increased VIP, High VIP, Vasoactive intestinal peptide elevation
