Hyphema

Hemorrhage in the anterior chamber of the eye, between the cornea and the iris.

Causes

• Trauma

• Complications after eye surgery: Postoperative bleeding

• Neovascularization of the iris due to diabetes mellitus or ischemia

• Anticoagulant therapy

• Hemophilia

• Sickle cell anemia

• Malignancy: Iris melanoma, retinoblastoma

• Viral eye infection
