Hyphema

Hemorrhage in  the anterior chamber) between the cornea and the iris.

Possible causes:

  • Trauma

  • Complications after eye surgery

  • Neovascularization of the iris due to diabetes or ischemia

  • Anticoagulation

  • Hemophilia

  • Sickle cell anemia

  • Cancer: iris melanoma, retinoblastoma

  • Viral eye infection
