Otitis media

Inflammation or infection of the mucosal lining of the middle ear cavity, typically associated with middle-ear effusion and potentially presenting as acute, recurrent, or chronic disease, with or without suppuration or tympanic membrane perforation. Possible causes are virus (common cold, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, adenovirus), and bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis).
