Peau d'orange

A dermatological sign characterized by thickened, dimpled, or pitted skin that closely resembles the texture of an orange rind. It results from localized edema under the skin due to inflammation and/or blockage of the lymphatic drainage. Possible causes are inflammatory breast cancer, lymphedema after breast surgery with lymph-node removal or radiation therapy, mastitis, and Graves' dermopathy.
