Pneumonitis

Inflammatory process involving lung parenchyma, usually noninfectious, characterized by alveolar and interstitial inflammation that may be acute or chronic and can progress to pulmonary fibrosis if persistent or severe. Possible causes are allergens/irritants (aspergillus, chemical fumes, pesticides, animal fur, wood dust), radiotherapy, Medication (antibiotics, chemotherapy, heart medication), aspiration pneumonitis (acidic stomach contents).
