Pulmonary edema

Abnormal accumulation of fluid within the pulmonary interstitium and/or alveoli usually from elevated pulmonary capillary pressure, impairing gas exchange and typically causing dyspnea. Possible causes are cardiogenic (congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, heart valve disease, hypertension) and non-cardiac (pneumonia, kidney failure, ARDS, toxin/smoke exposure, trauma).
