Symptom
Retinal detachment
The separation of the neurosensory (inner) retina from the underlying retinal pigment epithelium and choroid, disrupting photoreceptor support and leading to acute or progressive visual loss, most often due to traction and tear (myopia, shrinking corpus vitreum, post cataract surgery, eye trauma), or exudative mechanisms (diabetic retinopathy, leaking blood vessels, eye tumor, uveitis).
Also known as: Retinal separation, Retina detachment, Amotio retinae
