Strawberry tongue

An erythematous enanthem of the dorsal tongue characterized by prominent, hyperplastic fungiform papillae protruding through a white or denuded red mucosal surface. Typically associated with scarlet fever, Kawasaki disease, toxic shock syndrome, vitamin deficiency (B12, folate), allergic reaction, and viral infections (measles, adenovirus, enterovirus).
