Trigeminal neuralgia

A chronic paroxysmal neuropathic facial pain syndrome characterized by recurrent, unilateral, electric shock-like or stabbing pain in one or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve. Typically triggered by neurovascular compression from nearby artery/vein, tumor/cyst compressing the nerve, multiple sclerosis, trauma, stroke, and surgery.
