Urethral discharge

Abnormal mucus, purulent, or serosanguinous exudate from the urethral meatus, typically reflecting urethritis or other inflammatory, infectious, or irritative pathology of the urethra.

  • Neisseria gonorrhoea

  • Mycoplasma genitalium

  • Trichomonas vaginalis

• Urinary and genitourinary infections

  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)

  • Prostatitis

  • Balanitis

• Mechanical and chemical irritation

  • Urinary catheterization

  • Soap or chemical exposure

  • Spermicide

  • Condom-related irritation

• Other causes

  • Non-specific urethritis

  • Urethral trauma

  • Urethral inflammation from autoimmune or dermatologic conditions
