Uvula deviation

An abnormal lateral displacement of the uvula from the midline, typically observed during phonation.

Causes

  • Neurological causes

    • Vagus nerve (CN X) palsy

    • Herpes zoster neuritis

    • Stroke

    • Local anesthetic injection affecting the vagus nerve

  • Mechanical and structural causes

    • Peritonsillar abscess

    • Tonsillitis

    • Oropharyngeal tumor
