Cold skin

A subjective or objective decrease in cutaneous temperature.

Causes

  • Peripheral vasoconstriction --> hypoperfusion (Raynaud phenomenon, shock)

  • Atherosclerosis

  • Thrombosis

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Anemia

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency

  • Environmental cold exposure

  • Low body mass index

  • Systemic infection with chills

  • Neuropathic processes affecting thermoregulation
