Epicanthal folds

Semilunar vertical folds of skin of the upper eyelid that extend across and partially or completely cover the medial canthus. Possible causes are normal anatomic variant (especially in infants), specific East Asian ancestries, underdeveloped nasal bridge, and various congenital syndromes (Down syndrome, Fetal alcohol syndrome, Turner syndrome, Noonan syndrome, Blepharophimosis syndrome, Williams syndrome, Zellweger syndrome).
