Neurofibroma

Benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor composed of proliferating Schwann cells, fibroblasts, and typically arising within or along a peripheral nerve. Possible causes are sporadic solitary neurofibroma due to localized oxidative DNA damage, or the genetic condition neurofibromatosis type 1 associated with numerous neurofibromas.
