Areflexia

The complete absence of physiologic reflex responses, typically of deep tendon or other segmental spinal reflexes, usually indicating significant dysfunction of peripheral nerves, nerve roots, or spinal cord reflex arcs.

Causes

  • Diabetes mellitus

  • Vitamin E/B1/B6/B12 deficiency

  • Alcohol

  • Chemotherapy

  • Guillain-Barré syndrome

  • Miller Fisher syndrome

  • Friedreich's ataxia

  • Spinal cord injurt

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Infections: herpes, EBV
