Esophageal ulcer

A discrete mucosal break in the esophageal lining penetrating the muscularis mucosae and most often associated with gastroesophageal reflux, pill-induced injury (NSAIDs gets stuck and dissolves), infection (Candida, HSV, CMV, H.pylori), radiotherapy or irritants (alcohol, tobacco smoking, corrosive ingestion, recurrent vomiting).
