Palmar erythema
The symmetrical redness or pinkness on the palms of the hands.
Causes:
Pregnancy: High estrogen levels change blood flow
Liver failure: Cirrhosis or hepatitis causes impaired estrogen metabolism
Autoimmune diseases: Rheumatoid arthritis
Hyperthyroidism: Increased peripheral vasodilation
Medications and lifestyle: Topiramate, albuterol, heavy smoking, mercury exposure
Chronic pulmonary disease: COPD, interstitial lung disease
Hematologic disorders (rare)
