Elevated T3

An increased serum triiodothyronine (T3) concentration above the laboratory reference range:

  • Free T3: 3.1-6.8 pmol/L

  • Total T3: 1.3-3.1 nmol/L or 80-220 ng/dL

Causes

  • Hyperthyroidism

    • Graves' disease

    • Toxic multinodular goiter

    • Toxic thyroid adenoma

    • Thyroiditis

  • Medications

    • Exogenous thyroid hormone therapy

    • Amiodarone
