Hemiplegia

A total or partial paralysis of the muscles of one side of the body, typically resulting from a lesion or other pathology affecting the contralateral motor cortex or corticospinal pathways in the brain. Possible causes are stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, brain tumor, multiple sclerosis, meningitis or encephalitis.
