Carnett's sign

A physical examination maneuver in which focal abdominal tenderness that persists or increases when the patient tenses the abdominal wall (e.g., by raising head or legs) indicates an abdominal wall source of pain rather than intra-abdominal pathology.

Causes

• Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome

• Myofascial pain: Trigger point, muscle strain/spasm)

• Rectus sheath hematoma

• Abdominal wall hernia
