Symptom
Metrorrhagia
Abnormal, irregular, noncyclic uterine bleeding, typically occurring between otherwise normal menstrual periods, and not related to the expected timing or volume of regular menses. Possible causes are hormonal imbalance (anovulatory cycle, PCOS, thyroid disorder, stress, weight fluctuations, puberty, perimenopause), uterine disease (fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis, endometriosis), pregnancy complications (miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy), infections (PID, cervicitis, STIs), medications (hormonal birth control, IUD, anticoagulants), and endometrial cancer.
Also known as: Intermenstrual bleeding
