Symptom
Odynophagia
Painful swallowing and discomfort during transit of liquids or solids through the oropharynx or esophagus. Possible causes are infections (common cold, flu, strep throat, tonsillitis, oral thrush/candidiasis), GERD, esophagitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, mucosal ulcers (tobacco use, alcohol abuse, hot/corrosive liquids, NSAIDs, antibiotics, radiotherapy, sharp foods), esophageal tumor, or rare neuromuscular conditions.
