Papilledema

Optic disc swelling characterized by edema and elevation of the optic nerve head. Typically bilateral due to increased intracranial pressure. Possible causes are idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri), brain tumor, brain abscess, brain hemorrhage, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, traumatic brain injury, meningitis, encephalitis, hydrocephalus, hypertensive crisis, and medications (vitamin A, tetracycline antibiotics, corticosteroids).
