Atrial fibrillation

A supraventricular tachyarrhythmia characterized by disorganized, very rapid atrial activation with loss of effective atrial contraction, resulting in an irregular ventricular response and increased risk of thromboembolism.

  • Coronary artery disease/heart attack

  • Valve disease

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Obstructive sleep apnea

  • Diabetes

  • Obesity

  • Chronic kidney disease

  • Lung disease
