Polyuria

The excessive excretion of urine, typically defined as a urine output exceeding 3 liters per 24 hours in adults. Often due to osmotic diuresis (uncontrolled diabetes mellitus) or water diuresis (diabetes insipidus, primary polydipsia), medications (diuretics), high fluid intake, psychogenic polydipsia, early stage kidney failure, and hypercalcemia.
