Malaise

A vague, generalized feeling of discomfort, unease, or lack of well-being, often prodromal or accompanying systemic illness, without a clearly localized clinical correlate. There are dozens of triggers such as infections (common cold, influenza, COVID-19, mononucleosis, Lyme disease), mental health conditions (stress, anxiety, depression), chronic illnesses (diabetes, anemia, COPD, autoimmune diseases), lifestyle factors (insomnia, sleep apnea, poor nutrition, excessive caffeine, alcohol abuse), and medication side effects.
