Fever

A temporary elevation of the hypothalamic thermoregulatory set point caused by an adaptive immune response to endogenous or exogenous pyrogens, resulting in increased body temperature.

    • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

    • Other systemic inflammatory conditions

  • Environmental: Heat exposure

  • Tissue injury or necrosis --> inflammation

    • Surgery

    • Trauma

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Medication-induced fever

  • Vaccine-related immune response

  • Malignancy

    • Lymphoma

    • Leukemia

    • Other cancers causing tumor-associated inflammatory responses
